Necdet Yıldırım is one of the victims of the pirate attack on the flotilla carrying aid to Palestine in international waters. He was born on August 15, 1978 in Istanbul. Yıldırım, originally from Malatya, completed his primary and secondary education in Istanbul. In 2005, he started working in the Pharmacy Department of the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation. He married Mrs.Refika in 2007. The couple has a two-year-old daughter named Melek. Their neighbor in Başakşehir for two and a half years speaks of Necdet Yıldırım as "always a smiling, calm, patient and very compassionate person". Necdet Yıldırım, who was described as compassionate, smiling and a monument of patience by his family, was also loved by his colleagues. Yıldırım, who moved to Çorlu for his job, voluntarily joined the aid convoy to lift the Gaza embargo.
